Hello everyone!
My favorite
subject in this year as a Political Science career student is "Modern Political
Thought". However, due to the pandemic and the online modality of classes,
it has been difficult to choose a preferred subject, because the time did not allow
to see all the contents in the best way.
Well, what we do
in this class is see and analyze the thinking of political scientists,
philosophers or polymatics such as Niccolò Machiavelli, John Locke, Alexis de
Tocqueville, Immanuel Kant, among many others. We study them to understand how
these ideas formed new paradigms within politics and society.
The main
contents that we have seen are the ideas of Machiavelli and his two books
"Discourse on the first decade of Tito Livio" and "The
Prince". We also read and analyzed contractualists such as Jean-Jacques
Rousseau, Thomas Hobbes, and others. Now last, we are looking at Karl Marx and the
thought derived from his ideas.
I like this
class more than the others because of the content and the different thinkers we
have seen. However, I would like to see even more deeply these themes and some
philosophers, like Kant or Hegel.
