A SUBJECT I ENJOY STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

Hello everyone!
My favorite subject in this year as a Political Science career student is "Modern Political Thought". However, due to the pandemic and the online modality of classes, it has been difficult to choose a preferred subject, because the time did not allow to see all the contents in the best way.
Well, what we do in this class is see and analyze the thinking of political scientists, philosophers or polymatics such as Niccolò Machiavelli, John Locke, Alexis de Tocqueville, Immanuel Kant, among many others. We study them to understand how these ideas formed new paradigms within politics and society.
The main contents that we have seen are the ideas of Machiavelli and his two books "Discourse on the first decade of Tito Livio" and "The Prince". We also read and analyzed contractualists such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Thomas Hobbes, and others. Now last, we are looking at Karl Marx and the thought derived from his ideas.
I like this class more than the others because of the content and the different thinkers we have seen. However, I would like to see even more deeply these themes and some philosophers, like Kant or Hegel.

AN EXPERT ON YOUR FIELD

The person that I admire in my field of study is the Chilean politician President Pedro Aguirre Cerda who governed my country between 1938 to 1941.  He at the University of Chile and was a professor of Spanish, philosophy and civic education, in addition to their studies of law. He was part of the radical party, which led him to be elected deputy between 1915-1921, senator between 1921-1924 and was also Minister of State in the governments of Juan Luis Sanfuentes and Arturo Alessandri Palma.

He is not an expert in Political Science, but he was a visionary of his time. He is one of the people that got me interested in politics and how you can change the reality of people.
Well his motto was "To govern is to educate", and its public policies were destined to that. 500 schools were built, and more than 500,000 children and young people were able to enroll in an educational establishment. He also developed technical-professional education, and since Chile was experiencing an era of industrialization (CORFO 1939), this would help increase productivity and efficiency. He was a president who was able to relate a social issue such as education with a view to a better national economic development for the future.
This person is very important to me because his ideas, his vision on education and industrial development in Chile were excellent. Politicians now, only know of popular speeches, popular measures and playing with the faith of the Chilean, but now we need concrete actions on issues such as education, health, and the economy. We do not need to listen to a mayor on TV who talks about realities that he has never lived and solutions that he will never do. In summary, we need a person like PAC, because Chile needs solutions now.

FAVOURITE MUSIC GENRE / MUSICIAN

I like two musical genres, Rhythm and Poetry (or known as RAP) and old school Reggaeton.

By one side, rap is the music that helps me to get relaxed, to travel and to connect with myself. Also, its lyrics are the reason for what I study today. I like American (like Ice Cube,  Cypress Hill, Eminem, among others) rap and Chilean rap (like Adickta Sinfonia, Ana Tijoux, Borderline, among others) , but my favourite Chilean rap band is Movimiento Original,  because their music and message are very pure, they give me tranquility and happiness (they makes me chill!).

And on the other hand, the old school Reggaeton like Hector and Tito, Don Omar, Jowell & Randy, Tony Dize, Daddy Yankee give me so much energy for everything. But my prefered artist on this genre is Don Omar, because its songs like "Danza Kuduro" or "Ella y yo" are so good.
I know that doth genres are different in their lyrics and rhythms, but rap taught me about life and its difficulties, and how important society is to change everything, to make a better world. And old school reggaeton gives me happiness, with its rhythm, I feel energetic to do whatever.

P.S. Use headphones or earphones for 8D music
